Bespoke Triathlon Apparel
Claire Shea-Simonds — IRONMAN World AG Championships

A bespoke outfit designed, developed and tested, to aid and improve performance and comfort during an IRONMAN Triathlon: in the heat, humidity and windy conditions of Kona, Hawaii. Including the development of bespoke prints for the apparel, to motivate and inspire Claire for the biggest race of her life!


Bespoke Long Course Triathlon Suit

Design Features

  • Front fastening, non-chaffing zip design: easy access and ventilation
  • Contoured to the athlete's exact body measurements
  • Smooth and flat seams: hydro and aerodynamic
  • Upper fabric providing: softness, moisture wicking, UV and wind protection, heat reflection
  • Lower fabric providing: muscle compression and support, comfort, quick drying, no see-through and durability
  • Specially selected thin cycle insert: aiding comfort through all race stages
  • Bespoke 'Kona' print in shoulder and side panels, in team colours
  • Heat transfer printed sponsor logos
  • Vinyl printed name and country code

  • Lower: 71% Polyamide / 29% Lycra

Design and Print Development

  • Sketchbooks with hand drawn design concepts and development (technical and aesthetic): for garment, print and construction
  • Interviews with and feedback from the athlete
  • Print design and repeat print development with Illustrator and Photoshop, with approval from athlete for final print design
  • Development / testing: of sponsor logo layout and print design for panels - on to performance sportswear fabrics and colour-fastness
